HISTORY
The Department of Mathematics was established in 1984 with 4 lecturers and a research assistant, and in the same year, it started undergraduate education with 20 students. In 1985, Master and PhD degree programs were opened. There are 6 divisions in the department. Currently, there are 9 professors, 5 associate professors, 1 assistant professor, 1 lecturer, 4 research assistants and 1 administrative staff member in the department.
Our Mission
The Department of Mathematics aims to provide a good education within the framework of a constantly updated curriculum according to world standards, to train individuals who are self-confident, have original thinking, question, research, have problem posing and solving skills and apply this skill to the innovations of the age, can express mathematics verbally and in writing by understanding mathematical thinking methods, have knowledge about the history of Mathematics and the production of scientific knowledge, can follow the developments in this field of science, have the ability to solve problems encountered in various disciplines and in real life by means of mathematical methods through mathematical modeling, and have ethical and professional responsibility awareness.
Our Vission
Our vision is to increase the quality of education in order to be an exemplary department in undergraduate and graduate education, to increase the number and quality of articles for the department staff to do international studies by creating dynamic and productive staff in the fields of theoretical and applied mathematics, and to train graduates who are modern, entrepreneurial, sought-after in business and science world.
Undergraduate Education
It is 4 years (8 semesters). In order to graduate, students must take at least 30 ECTS courses each semester (at least 240 ECTS in total) and succeed. At least 12 of these courses are elective courses. Students who complete this process get bachelor's degree. The education program of our department is designed to train mathematicians who can follow the developments in today's mathematics. In the first six semesters, all students in our department can take courses such as Analysis, Topology, Algebra, Differential Equations, Abstract Mathematics, Analytic Geometry in common.
